Promethean’20

Institution’s Innovation Council is an initiative set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, to encourage the idea of innovation among students and faculty of all higher education institutions. The Institution’s Innovation Cell of Women’s Christian College, ZEAL, is known for conducting activities that promote and motivate student entrepreneurs, give insights and opportunities for business and skill development, sustainability and other aspects in this domain. To celebrate “Innovation Day,'' the club conducts a series of events in the college, for its students, called Promethean.

This academic year, Promethean took place from 1 to 7 October. Considering the worldwide pandemic situation, the events found their venues on online platforms, and this provided new experiences to club members, professors and participants. Club members sought a theme which could entertain the participants as well as educate and sensitise them. Hence, they came up with Locked up in Lockdown. The intent was to make students aware of services rendered by frontline warriors in trying to manage COVID -19, and the role of every commoner in this struggle.

Six events were conducted and over 206 students participated. The events conducted were Ok Doodle (a poster-making competition), Amateur Chef (a cooking contest), Meme-O-Mania (meme-making), Lights Camera Lockdown (video-making contest), Epiphany in Lockdown (poetry contest) and Lockdown Dramatica (mono-acting event), all of which adhered to the theme chosen. Experts in each field were assigned to judge the work produced by contestants. The collective opinion of judges was that every work was equally creative and worthy of a prize, and they had a tough time choosing the best among them. Promethean ’20 came to an end on 7 October.
